GiveFirst Foundation Surpasses €100M in Lifetime Donations to Education Nonprofits
The GiveFirst Foundation has announced it has surpassed €100 million in total donations distributed to education-focused nonprofit organisations since its founding in 2015.
The GiveFirst Foundation today announced it has surpassed €100 million in lifetime donations distributed to education-focused nonprofit organisations across 38 countries since its founding in 2015 — a milestone reached a full year ahead of its original target.
The €100 million has been distributed across 312 nonprofit grants, spanning early childhood education, secondary school infrastructure, teacher training, digital literacy, and university scholarship programmes. The largest single grant to date — €4.2 million — supported the construction and staffing of 28 primary schools in rural Uganda.
“€100 million sounds like a large number, but measured against the scale of the global education gap it is a beginning,” said GiveFirst Executive Director Hannelore van Rijn. “The milestone matters because it builds the trust and track record that attracts larger donors and institutional partners.”
GiveFirst’s next goal is to reach €250 million in cumulative distributions by 2030. The Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2026 grant cycle, with priority given to programmes reaching girls in low-income countries.
