CarbonZero Achieves Science-Based Net-Zero Certification Across 14 Countries

CarbonZero Logistics has achieved Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard certification, becoming the first European industrial logistics operator to do so.

CarbonZero Logistics today became the first European industrial logistics company to achieve Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard certification, covering all Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions across its operations in 14 countries.

The certification follows a three-year programme that included converting 68% of its road fleet to electric or hydrogen, installing 22MW of rooftop solar across its warehouse estate, switching all electricity procurement to 100% renewable Power Purchase Agreements, and engaging its top 300 suppliers to set their own science-based targets.

“Net-zero for a logistics company is harder than for any other sector — we move physical goods, and that creates emissions at every step,” said CEO Franka Hoekstra. “This certification proves it can be done, profitably, without offsetting our way to a headline number.”

Residual emissions — approximately 4% of the pre-programme baseline — have been neutralised through investment in directly owned afforestation projects in Portugal and Estonia, verified by Gold Standard.
