The Process
The process involves several key steps:
- Define the Decision
- Identify Key Criteria
- Develop Heuristics
- Test the Heuristics, and
- Use the Heuristics to Make Decisions
Define the Decision
The group clearly defines the decision that needs to be made. This provides a focus for the exercise & ensures that everyone is working towards the same goal. The decision should be stated in a clear & concise way
Identify Key Criteria
The group identifies the key criteria that are important for making the decision. These criteria should be relevant to the objective & measurable whenever possible. The goal is to identify the most important factors to consider
Develop Heuristics
The group develops simple rules of thumb, or heuristics, based on the key criteria. These heuristics should be easy to remember & apply. They should provide clear guidance on how to make the decision
Test the Heuristics
